“Ori and the Blind Forest was an enjoyable Metroidvania, but I wasn’t as blown away by it as I had expected to be. In my opinion, it didn’t do anything too out of the ordinary for a game in this genre, which is probably largely my fault for not getting around to playing it sooner, but newer games in the genre just pull off the formula better. The game has some major pluses though, primarily its nice graphics, beautiful soundtrack, and fluid character movement, but the whole experience is held back significantly by its incredibly dull combat, which, unfortunately, there was way too much of.”
