“I had heard many great things about Death’s Door but had put off buying it because it played somewhat like a ‘souls-like’. However, it went on sale for a really good price, so I decided to give it a shot. At the start, I found the game to be a lot of fun. There was a good amount of challenge and I often found myself struggling to stay alive for long, especially during boss battles. However, after progressing a bit and purchasing a few upgrades, the once present difficulty had decreased immensely, and so did my enjoyment of the game. I was breezing through most areas and was even taking most bosses down in just a small handful of attempts. I suppose I could have just not purchased the upgrades and made things more difficult that way, but if they’re a mechanic of the game (they’re the only thing to spend currency on), you’re expected to use them, right? I still had a decent time playing through Death's Door, but I feel it would’ve been a enjoyable if the game had been consistently difficult.”
