“Vampyr was released 8 years ago (this is written in 2026). It has, therefore, aged graphically, BUT the gameplay is still there. The combat mostly consists of melee attacks, dodging, and magical vampire abilities. It works well. The story and voice acting is also well done. I genuinely was interested in what caused the vampire epidemic in London, and actually cared about the fate of some of the key characters. Where the game slips is the traversal. Most of the time playing the game consisted of me running around from one district of London to the next. Moreover, enemies respawn. Since enemies only drop loot and do NOT contribute to your experience, they become more of a nuisance than a joy to fight. I feel like there should have been a fast travel mechanic added to the game. Additionally, I experienced some weird glitches. Characters spreading their arms out and gliding in the air. NPCs getting stuck on walls or boxes. Frame rate glitches of characters from far away. Despite it's bugs, despite it's lack of fast travel, the game is still fun to play. The story is still compelling. If this is on sale, and you're a fan of action RPGs, I would give this a try.”
